1. Request that the effective date for transfer or the above
sections from the Intellionce Division to the Central Intelligence
Group be deferred from 31 May 19/17 to 30 June 1947 for the following
reasons:
a. Although action hes alreatr been initiated to obtain
CIO security clearance for all civilian personnel scheduled
to tranefer, it is doubtful that such Clearance can be com-
pleted in lees than 60 daye or earlier than 30 June 1947.
No employee can be transferred to the pay-roll of the Central
Int:al/41mo* Gronp before individual clearance has been ob-
tained,
b. Certein short-range projects and special translations
initlated. at Special Documents Section by the Intelligence
Division-will be in process or comAetion during the month
of June. It is thought preferable that those te finished
and published before transfer, since the physical rove of
the section from Baltimore to Washington will involve
unavoidable delays in reproduction and publication.
