Approved For Re I T I Tg 6R00} 00040115-6 ~.' _4 AR DEPARTMENT MILITARY INTELLIGENCE SERVICE WASHINGTON MEMOEANDUM FOR TEE DIRECTOR OF INT-%LIGENCE, MIS: Subject: Intelligence Conference. . F. GRONICE, Lt. Col., Infantry, Chief, Pacific MIRS. 1. A conversation with Colonel Alexander, Policy Staff, on the subject of the proposed captured document conference with representa- tives of all G-2 Sections from the Pacific and Asiatic Theaters logically leads to the following: a. The intelligence conference which it is proposed be held sometime in December should not confine itself merely to the subject of handling, evaluation and rearward transmission of captured documents to MIRS. It is suggested that an additional agenda be drawn up by Chief, MIS, to discuss besides the documents, the handli-v and transmission of name plates, captured equipment, expected language personnel needs and a possible adjustment of future personnel requests to effect.an adequate distribution of available linguists to cover the needs of both the field and War Department. be Another field which could benefit by coordination would be the question of types, form, contents and frequency of intelligence reports now being issued by theaters of operation with a view towards eliminating duplication of effort. c. The allocation of spheres of intelligence interest and main effort to both the theaters of operations and War Department for maxirmxm and most economical coverage of intelligence needs of our Armed Forces operating against the Japanese. d. Coordination on interrogation of available Prisoners of War and the establishment of a central intelligence file in MIS for the briefing of all theaters on availability of special prisoners which might answer specific needs. 2. Precedent fbr such a conference and its periodic repetition can be found in the European Theater where discussions between theater representatives and war Department agencies in London led to the most economical concentration of available intelligence personnel and agencies on outstanding intelligence problems. pproved For Release 2"0O4/0'U14_y CIA- P81 D< 7 :000200040115-6
