1. On 4 April 1951,1 1 Chief, Requirements 25X1A
Staff, OAUt, telephoned in compliance with instructions received
from Deputy Assistant Director, 0/RR.
2. I told hat subject project, as submitted by
FDD, would cost in the neighborhood per year and 25X1 A
that I am extremely anxious to get a more specific definition
of 0/RR requirements in order to determine whether or not it is
possible to meet their needs at less cost. Specifically, I should
like to know how much of the material will be unclassified, what
the estimated volume in the various languages will be, whether
they want newspapers and trade journals exploited, or are they
just enclosures to reports which they receive.
3.1 said that he was unable to answer these questions
without some further research. He also said that he was very much
surprised at the high cost of such a project. He stated further
that this project was not particularly urgent and that he would dig
up the answers to some of my questions and contact me within the
next few days to discuss the matter.
