SUBJECT: Authorization for Language Lessons
1. It is requested that authorization-be granted to permit the

following employees at the station to take Spanish
lessons at Government expense: 25X1A9a

2. In accordance with a : eraorandura to all Foreign Division
Chiefs dated 27 April 1949, it has been determined in this case:
a. That the employee should receive this training under
secure circumstances for reasons of immediate operational
necessity;
b. That the cost to the Government will not exceed 250,,,00
during any fiscal year for each employee; and
c. That such language lessons will directly benefit the
Government.
3. It is believed that this request is justified by the advan-
tages that will accrue to th station because of the above
employees' study of the Spanis language.
