MEMORANDUM
TO: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR SPECIAL OPERATIONS
FROM: Chief, Foreign Division 25X1 A
SUBJECT: Request for Authorization of Language Lessons for
10 is an operations officer at the - 25X1 A
station. n the per ormance of his duties, it is required
that he make daily contacts with numerous speaking agents 25X1A
and cut-outs. has some f a ty with 25X1 A
but is still a long way from being fluent. In continuing 25X1A
to improve his knowledge of this language, can
achieve better control over his agents whic in turn w
result in a higher grade of information directly benefiting
the U.S. Government.
2. In view of the fact that has been taking
lessons for several months, without prior authorization, it is
requested that retroactive authorization for the study of M not to exceed $250 per
fiscal year, be granted. This amount is to cover the fiscal year
of 1950. A total of $62.14 was spent through month of February.
3. It is also requested that authorization be granted for
the fiscal year 1951 not to exceed the sum of $250.
