SUBJECT: Authorization for LEmguage Lessons -
STATINTL
1. It is requested that authority be granted to permit
STATINTL to take Spanish lessons at Government expense STATINTL
co mencing upon his arrival tiiiere he is assigned
as Intelligence Officer (Operations , CAF-11.
2. In accordance -rith a me-_norondum to all Foreign Branch
Chiefs, dated 27 April 1949, it has been determined in this case:
a. That the employee should receive this training
under secure circumstances for reasons of ediate
operational necessity,
b. That the cost to the Government will not exceed
5250.00 during any fiscal year,
c. That such language lessons will directly benefit
the Government.
3. It is believed that this request is justified by the
advantages that will accrue to because of
STATINTL increased value to it through his added proficiency
in the language. This belief is concurred in by
