Soviet infantry and motorized instructional units are installed at Shumen (now called Kolarovgrad), where there is also a complete staff organization. This old Bulgarian town R.,has been turned into a Soviet military instructional base, meant to standardize Bulgarian armaments and to train instructor personnel. 2. Sere the new Soviet weapons are tried out. Here,also, instructors are trained to go out to the diff t eren Bulgarian garrisons to train troops in handling these various new arms. The Shumen (Kolarovgrad) base extends its activities over the entire northeastern elope of the, Balkan Mountains, across the plain of th D b e o ruja, and as far as the port of Varna,(now called Stalin). Also under the control of Soviet experts is the national General Direction of Military Propaganda. This was recently established in Sofia.
