Since autumn 1951, a Soviet Fighters unit has;.be+n`.instalIid :at:;the Otopeni
airport. At the beginning, the unit was equipped with YAK 11 airplanes but
starting from summer 1952, it was equipped with TJMIG (Fighters training school)
airplanes and also MIG-15 planes. Informant has counted some 40 planes and therefcre
believes that there must be an air regiment. As the airport is exclusively
occupied bar the Soviet airforce, there are no possibilities of finding out more
details about the unit located there.
The Mama.ia airport (North of Constanla):
In the past, until 1950, the airport was used by Boston Bombers and
Stormovik planes. Since 1951 a transport escadrille has .been, there., vitlu LT-2; planes
There is also a Fighter regiment,, equipped with YAK-9 and YAK-11 planes.
The Zilistea airport
The airport is located at approximately 15 kilometers northeast'.of.Bazau
end'-about cane;. ' .ilometer south of the Boboc railroad station, which is `on the.
BuzKu-Focsan.i railroad line. The airport. has a cement runway.' Since summer 1951 this
a:irpoxt,hasbeen used by , a Fighter:: unit, equipped with MIG jet planes. Three
UMIG training jet planes and about 30 MIG-15 planes have been observed. The Air
force Training Center may have moved temporarily, for the duration of summer 1952,
to the Buzau airport,
The Craiova airport.

summer 1952 at The Cra:iova airport. For this.purpose the airport has been enlarged
and ,equipped cement runways. Thg; airport is used jointly by the Soviets and
by a R Tian jet regiment which is also equipped with MIG-15 planes.
