1. Ddka Airfield is three km from the :town, between a wood and the road. At this
field there is a co rete runway in the form of a 011V3S. The longer arm rune
parallel with the road, and is about 1,000 by 50 meters. The shorter arm is
about 600 m long,
2. At this field is stationed a maCor Soviet avir formation, probaUy a fighter
regiment, There are 540 to 560 men, wearing light blue shoulder boards. The
unit is dependent from the air command at PApa. It has 18 to 20 YAKs and 30 to
32 MIG45s. There is a great activity at the field, beginning daily at 7 Diol.
The. machines take off at two-minute intervals and fly formation in exerises of
about an hour, Past of this formation left to take part in maneuvers during the
summer.
3. At Pdpa Airfield there are two concrete runways,- 1,200 by 0 m, perpendicular to
the Bdnhida-Pdpa railroad lint. It is occupied by a. Soviet fighter regiment, with
400 to 11.50 fliers, who are quartered in Eszterhdza castle, in schools and private
houses. They wear light 'blue shoulder boards.
4. It is very difficult to specify how many planes there are, because they are kept
in hangars and the whole area is closed to civilians, but there seem to be about
55 YAKs. No MIGs have been observed in the air.
5. An air support battalion is quartered at the field. It has 440 to 460 men, with
light blue shoulder boards.
6. Air activity goes on. all day. The machines fly in fOrmatiort ofnine.
