A delegation of the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Comm"fnist Party,
headed by Vaclav Krutina, recently appointed secretary of the Party, left
on 7 Nov 53 for Dunapentele, to settle difficulties between Czechoslovak
engineers and technicians on the one hand and the management of the
Sztalinvaros combine.
2. Construction of the giant steel works there has been put well behind
schedule by a series of workerst revolts and acts of sabotage. The
directors of the Sztalinvaros combine accuse the Czechoslovaks working
there as being responsible and have asked for their removal. There has
been strong Soviet pressure on both countries to improve rel.axtions, and
the delegation is expected to secure a general agreement regulating
various questions at issue.
3. Matyas Kakosf is expected to be personally present during the negotiations
at Dunapentele, but his willingness to reach a general agreement is not
yet assured.
