1, The RPT Rohrenwerk Neuhaus has been manufacturing television transmitter
tubes.for 'the past half year, but the production is still very small.
Production in Novemb b 1953 wAuy.6 tubes, and in December, 8 tubes, iSe paroduc-Uon
prospectively will commence at the beginning or iiay 1954, Preparations
were already being made in Octobe;r'117M.
2. It is not yet announced, however, how the Neuhaus plant will be assigned by
the RFT administrative authority of the VEB (Volkseigener Betrieb). On
15 Dee.53 there still existed questions over the further production plans
for., ordinary radio tubes between the RFT Erfurt and R.F'.F Neuhaus. Most
probably Neuhaus will undertake serial production of television tubes, as
glass bulbs already are manufactured on a large scale in the Unterweissbach
works.
3. Other production will also be increased considerably in 1954. The manufacture
of broadcasting transmission tubes is especially to be pushed. Heretofore,
these have been produced mainly in the form of short wave transmitters, but
now tubes for other types of transmitters will be manufactured, The Soviet
Union recently has been requiring large quantities of high efficiency long
wave transmitters. Broadcasting tube production at present is proceeding
normally. Production in Deasr?be 1153 was about 529000 tubes.
4. Difficulties in the hot wire procluction have arisen only occasionally in the
last two months. Cathode and anoa* plates are still in tight supply,
The difficulty the plant as been having in produc.Liig a. vacuum
(the tubes frequently had "gas") have been overcome. A new getter material is
being used, which Is delivered.;trom Poland. Poland bought it in England. All
the RET works apparently are now supplied with this material. The difficulties
in the, production of metal tube heads, which go mainly to the Soviet Union, are
not entirely overcome. The trouble is with the so-called vibrating pentodes.
