the beginning of spring, for which the various building firms and building
unions will have to furnish people. Airfield construction in all

of the ministry for construction already has made plans for great
quantities of cement and working equipment. Consultations are being
held in last Berlin with the Dresdea building union. In addition, the
building material stored in Senftenberg and Bautsen and only recently
released has been requisitioned again. These building activities will
concern Brandenburg and Saxony especially.
2. New building activity is observable at Kurdhausen, where V-2 rockets were
formerly manufactured. Trucks loaded with building material travel to
the underground works. According to workaenSs statements, three large
exhaxsters were installed in the period from 6 to 15 Jan 54. The works
lies 104 motors underground, and 36 of the 41 cross-galleries are already
in usable condition. The entire reconstructed, underground area covers
about 135,000 square moters. A few of the galleries are shut off and have
been guarded by Soviet soldiers since the and of Deoerber.1953.

3. The Soviet troops stationed at the Tramps training grounds (Kress
kberswalde) are not engaging in maneuvers, but appear to have taken
up winter quarters there. They have 93 vehicles and a large number of short-
barreled heavy guns (about 150 mm) mounted on caterpillar tracks;
62 guns have been counted And there are probably more.
4. Supplies in large quantities are arriving at tr. Soviet ArV supply depot at
Frankfurt-an-Oder. The factory at $ then deliverea 1)c hone of food
in ~)ev 304arge cases of packets are reaching Frankfurt by ship
from the :3uviet Union. The packets are about 15 by 7 by 5 cm in size,
of a walnut-like substance. A consignment that was checked on amounted
to eight 5-ton truckloads. The trucks take the packets from ud.erhafen.
A train with 200 to 250 Soviet soldiers arrived in hrankfurt on 8 Jan 54.
They went on to Ji terbog. it appeared to be a rifle unit; the troops
had only small arms with them. On 2'1 Jan 54 , forty-sever Soviet
families from the Soviet Union arrived at the-Frankfurt raxiway station.
It is not known where they went.
6. About 240 Stalin I and Stalin 11 tanks are parked at gresden in
Konigabriokeratrasse, on the Jresdener Heide. Among them is a section of
12 tanks equipped with flame throwers. These tanks last summer carried,
numbers from 12:1 up, but it is to be presumed that thelnumbers will
be changed in the spring. There is also a ;ovist unit1n l(onigabraokerstrasse
