The IBS Work (formerly Meyer b Weichelt) is to be changed over entirely to armament
wanu;`astire ib the course of tkq next toree months. Heretofore about half of
the production has been for civilian demand. Director Opperaann was called to
Berlin toward the end of March 1954, to the Milsistry of?Heavy Machine Construction,
and whs informed of the new plans. Since then a beginnipg of the conversion has
been made. Director Opperaann meanwhile has fled to West Berlin.
2. The report is that production will, be concentrated on. parts for guns. Parts for tanks
already have been manufactured for a long time.
3. About nine thousand 55 mm. shells were produced in March 1954; also 12,000 track
shoes for caterpillar vehicles.
