The soldiers of the motor vehicle and training companies were scheduled to be trained for 4 weeks and 6 weeks respectively Letween 23 and 27 January 1958, the first 150 recruits arrived with the battElion. All of them were newly enlisted personnel, some of whom had -not yet been sworn in. The soldiers had gone through a general medical inspectLon but were again examined with the battalion to see whether they were fit for driving (color-blindness, eye and ear defects and disease of the heart).
