The 9 March Presidential Briefing was cancelled. 2. The Presidential Briefing the week of 13 March will be an overview of some aspects of intelligence collection work. The time of the briefing is tentatively set for 1400, 14 March. 3. The following topics are in various stages of preparation for future Presidential Briefings. The following topics have been proposed as possible future topics for Presidential Briefings. These topics have not yet been approved by D/NFAC. After D/NFAC approval of the topic, the responsible officer will be asked to provide an outline for the DCI's approval. Preparation of the draft briefing will start after the outline is approved. A. Soviet R&D on Low Altitude Air Defense Systems B. The North Asian Military Balance C. Military Lessons Learned About Performance of Soviet and Cuban Forces from the Somali- Ethiopian Campaign D. Overview of Trends in the African Subsaharan Belt E. Egypt's Water Problems and Use of Computer Simulation Model to Assess Future Alternative Water Management Strategies F. Soviet Electronic Warfare Capabilities vs. US Strategic Command and Control G. Status of Soviet Work on the Neutron Bomb H. Nuclear Energy Problems and Alternatives in the LDCs 5. The following topics have been deleted from the list of working topics for the reasons indicated: A. Impact of Soviet Economic Problems on Eastern Europe (political and economic): Too much research remains to be done on this to continue carrying it among active briefing topics. B. Soviet Command and Control: Inadvertently included in last week's memo by PBC. Topic is too close to a topic rie a several months ago. D. Ceausescu and Romania: Too many higher priority briefings for the period during which this topic would be timely to merit continued wori. 6. The D/OSR, D/OIA, and NIOs PE, WE, and CH are requested to submit topics for use in late April by COB Tuesday, 14 March.
