Approved For Fase 2003/04/22: CIA-RDP81800401 2400190009-0 21 December 1977 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director, National Foreign Assessment Center FROM 25X1A SUBJECT Book Shelf on Intelligence Analysis 1. After a meeting with Office Directors and NIOs you directed me to assemble a shelf of books on how analysis is done in a number of fields. This is a status report. 2. With major help from our librarians I have culled some 500 titles to 50 deserving detailed examination. The going is now slow. Among other things I have learned that philosophers are not rewarded for brevity. 3.- By late January I will have a dozen books worth serious reading. They will reflect the perspectives of a number of disciplines including physics, law, medicine, and systems analysis. 4. Attached is Intelligence Research Methodology.- While not profound it's worth leafing through if you find a dull hour over the holidays. It's comforting to know that someone has at least tried to answer the kinds of questions you have been asking. In fact, I bet that a complimentary copy of this to each fresh caught college graduate who arrives in NFAC for duty would not harm us. 25X1A Approved For Release 2003/04/22 : CIA-RDP81 800401 R002400190009-0
