Approved For Release 2002/08/07 : CIA-RDP81 B00878R000100030002-1 may 13, 1957 To: Contracting Officer, Contract SP-1914 Subject: Information requested in discussion here re our letter of April 8, 1957? (Numbering is per Item numbers in referenced letter.) I. APB-56 Radan Configuration. The only question raised was that this was considered to be a matter of initial configuration, and therefore not additional. While we had it recorded as an additional item, we agree that it is initial configuration. Consequently, delete this from the list of additions. II. ASN-6 Radan. The question raised was what previous authorization there had been. The initial written authorization was your letter of 5 November 1956, which was based on Sid's letter to you dated 26 September 1956. There were a number of subsequent discussions. Our quotation for this item was submitted for the first time in our 8 April letter. III. Weather Package. Similar to the item next above, this is our first submittal of quotation for this item. IV. "C" Hatch and Provisions. Question was how many kits of provisions are planned Answer: Zero. The difference is the 25X1 installation in the case of 1914. (The development costs are included 50% in 1913 a 1914, and thus each of the above includes of development costs 25X1 totalling I.) 25X1 D (2) Explanation of apparent low price for Item VII - for 1914 in relation to apparent substantially higher price for same under 1913. The "add to contract" amount shown,Il includes only 25X1 "provision uipment pac ages are in the Spares Exhibit co Thus the total of those two amounts, o he figure which is comparable to the SP-1913 es a or this item, 0? This has been done for two purposes: (1) to supply you with funds planning information; and (2) to furnish information as a basis for written authoriza- tion. 25X1 A The total estimated figure for planning additional funds is (J nce some funds allocated for Spare Parts, Tools & Ground Handling Equipment presently remain unused by the Priced Exhibit, they of course may be applied to that portion of the additional fund requirements which relates to spares-type items.) We have not included in this estimate items which have been previously quoted, 25X1 D such as the =installation. Most of the projects involved are of a highly experimental nature and are still in the design and development stage. Consequently, the estimates may have to be revised in the future as developments progress.
