MEMORANDUM FOR: Project Director
SUBJECT : "F" Rack
1. During the visit here of the two Remo-Wooldridge engineers,
the "F" Rack readout equipment was examined in detail. The equip.
ment.furnished to Headquarters suffered from two basic faults:
a. At high input noise levels it is not possible to zero
the DC amplifiers which drive the readout pen motors.
b. "Cross talk" between the 10 second and 1 minute timing
mark amplifiers does not allow suitable presentation of these
two signals on the readout charto
a. Lack of my reference marks on the amplifier gain
controls complicates using the rack and adds greatly to setup
time.
2. The substance of these conclusions, which make it impossible
to use the "F" Rack in its present form, have been relayed to R-W
verbally both.by the undersigned and by the R-W
engineer who examined the equipment.
3. The "F" Rack should not be accepted for project use until
these faults have been cleared up.
