We shipped with System 5 a total of three rolls of
one-inch wide magnetic tape required for the 14-channel
recorder, and we are preparing an additional ten rolls for
immediate shipment. This will reduce our stock to a
minimum consistent with testing and other work for which
we require this kind of tape.
I assume that your company will wish to place orders
directly with the manufacturer for such additional quantities
of one-inch tape as may be required, and to this end we
should like to provide the following information necessary to
place such orders.
The supplier of the one-inch tape is the Minnesota
Mining and Manufacturing Company, St. Paul 6, Minnesota.
The description of the tape required follows:
Scotch Tape - 1 inch - 149-90H - 9000 ft.
length on NARTB hub price, $243. 00 per
reel.
It is possible to wind the tape from the NARTB hub to
the special cast reel on the recorder. An adapter is neces-
sary to place the NARTB hub on the recorder shaft, and a
suitable adapter kit for this purpose will be supplied for
System 5 together with instructions for transferring the tape
from hub to reel.
The rewinding operation requires very careful attention
to avoid damage to the edges of the tape and to obtain good
build-up on the cast reel during the rewind process.
