In response to several questions raised by concerning above subject, Lt on or on 16 May 1962, following information for relay to a. The procedure recommended by for preparing the KC-135 refueling system to accommodate PF.-1 fuel is to completely drain the tanker of its present load and flush with 5,000 gallons of PP-1. A milipore sample will be taken from the tank upon com- pletion of pumping the 5,000 gallons into the KC-135. This sample will be studied and fuel then pumped out of the tanker and disposed of. believes, although he does not have any experien a ss yet with this proce- duro, that the single flushing should adequately cleanse the KC-135 refueling system for delivery of clean PF- 1 fuel into the A-12. b. The determination as to the use of Castle AFB as a storage point for PP i ' for loading into the tanker is still undecided. Apparently, the decision to develop storage facilities for PP-3 at Castle rests with Colonel Geary and with coordination by Colonel Beerli of DPD. a c. The nomination for security clearance of the ground support team of six enlisted mai ten nee personnel for the KC-135 tanker operating at is being handled by Lt. Cal, Wilson, AFCIG- . n ormss me that he is in contact with Colonel Ellsworth Powell at SAC, to obtain the names of the personnel planned for the operation.
