X. Since the preparation of reference I received a
cable from Lockheed indicating that Xelly Johnson plans
to have 37 representatives of Lockheed attend the mock-UP
meeting.
2. I called this new information to the attention of
the DAD/OSA at 1355 hours this date and noting that
was not Into on the message from Lockheed, I called Col.
Geary at 1336 hours. I intended to inform him of the fact
that Lockheed proposed to have 37 representatives at the
meeting which would bring the total number up to 114, plus.
Nowever, Col.. Geary had already departed for the West Coast.
3. From the security standpoint I restate that I an
most 'seriously concerned of the sive of this meeting. TO
make matters worse there are blended together in this large
group numerous individuals who are cleared only at the
Phase II level. This maw that these individuals should
not be aware of the CIA involvement in the Project. In a
gathering such as this, however, although the people cleared
at the higher level will be security briefed before the
meetings it is extremely difficult to maintain the desired
degree of compartmentation.
4. In view of the fact that the participants in the
meeting are assembling at the present time in the Los
Angeles are, thin meeting must go on. It is strongly sug-
gested, however, that as soon as possible we get together
with Col. Geary and if necessary, and have
a full reassessment of the wanner in which the security of
