MISSION: To provide Project Operations and the Satellite Operations Center, NRO, through electronic data processing methods, those usable products which will appreciably decrease the time of. the preparatory phases of operations, greatly increase the planning flexibility, and provide display data to be used by competent authority in the decision making process. The term "usable products" includes complete flight planning for OXCART and IDEALIST, ephemeris computa- tions and plotting for satellites, command and control analaysis and such other future programs as determined feasible and desirable. 2. FUNCTIONS AND OBJECTIVES: a. The tasks for the First part (first six months FY'65) of this period will be to complete programs presently in formulation and continue support of operational requirements of the Satellite Operations Center (SOC). b. she objectives for the latter part (last 18 months) of this period will be: (1) Refine original programs to provide additional information or more detailed information formated to the users requirements. (2) Develop sophisticated command and control programs for satellite operations. (3) Complete flight plan programs for OXCART to include considerations of all parameters, such as fuel consumption using varying profiles, emer- gency alternates, and minimum fuel requirements at selected points. rrrao..._ S, liLD OXC 6521 Copy /d of Page 7 of :.,T 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/0,x/27 : CIA-RDP81 B00879R001000130098-4 SECRET Approved for Release 200310N}t1,EJt,79R001000130098-4 (4) Refine plotter programs to provide the capability to plot target information, flight strip information and other pertinent data re- quired by the SOC or the OXCART project. (5) Continue study of future program require- ments to support current and future operational projects. a. The concept of operations for the Automation Division encompasses the requirements for specified equipment, adequate space for personnel and equipment, and personnel manning consistent with good management principles considering total work load and required program completion dates. The IBM 7090 scientific computer with its associated peripheral equipment, operated by the Office of Computer Services (OCS), will be utilized for all program computations. In addition, the following equipment is required in this Division: (1) One UNIVAC 1004 Processor (2) One IBM 026 Card Punch (3) One IBM 056 Verifier (11) One Electronics Associates Inc. (EAI) Dataplotter. (5) One Friden Teledata and Flexowriter 25X1A in support of the OXCART project include: (1) One Electronics Associates Inc. (EAI) Dataplotter. (2) One Friden Teledata and Flexowriter c. Electronic data processing equipment required at the SOC include: (1) One Electronics Associates Inc. (EAI Dataplotter. (2) One UNIVAC 1004 Processor. b. The personnel manning for the Automation Division is predicated on forecast requirements as projected through coordination with the Operations Staff of the SOC and OSA. The division is composed of two branches. The Programs Branch will consist of a Digital Systems Analyst as Branch Chief and seven Digital Systems Programmers, f. The Automation Division will require a minimum of 1636 square feet of space. Of this amount, the machine room requires 500 square feet, 1056 square feet of office space is required for personnel, and 80 square feet for administrative files, etc. 25X1 4. FUNDING ESTIMATES (PER FISCAL YEAR) funding required to support the concepts enumerated above is predicated on the assignment of 0 25X1 people, and the rental of all equipment in paragraphs 3.a.,b., and c. above, except the three plotters which have been purchased during FY'64.
