Memorandum for D/FA/O A from D/TECH/4SA, Subject; Map Destruct Systems, dated 19 February 1964 (OXC 6467) 0 4454 (IN 65171) 1. Attempting to sum up the map destruct problem, I find the following facts; a. Lockheed claims they have devised a satisfacto: system. b. 0 says It does not work. Lockheed says we don't need the system. d. A/TECH agrees with Lockheed. e. Operations says we need to , cam maps. f. Doolittle Committee says everything carried hat can be traced to U. S. must be destroyed. 2. Conclus ion A destruct system must be incorporated in the aircraft that will destruct material carried by the pilot. Recommendations: a. A comprehensive short study be made of pilot navigation requirements. b. Project to make a destruct system be assigned to a responsible person.
