Approved Foolease 2002/05/01 : CIA-RDP81 B0081S000100420003-4 t, 4 `tlei.l I?t I ~ : F(? Chief. Near East Division I. Attached is a report ccecerning to 11-43B and MI-4 helicopter. It appears that there is no definite data on t actual performance charac- teristics of the W4-4 that rake it possibl# to completely compare its performance figures against the i1-43I. ftwover, after wading through the various comparisons and discussing it with my to rrician, it appears that neither aircraft is particularly suited for operations at the higher altitudes (14, 000 feet). If our position is to prove the U. S. hair a superior helicopter from the facts we have now, this do** not pear to bee the grounds under which we should take on that task. 2. As you will note from these figures neither helicopter has a wide advantage over the other. `I,'* will contim to research this problem, but knower that Mir. Bissell is probably a cpecting an answer from us shortly, this is the best available information we have been able to come up with tc date. STANLEY W.
