1 have reviewed the paper work associated with the cash
shortage which was reported at and feel confident
that due and proper care has been demonstrated in the handling of
our cash assets at - and further, that all avenues have been
explored to locate the shortage. Although we readily recognize
that as Finance Officer is the respons-
ible individual, there are certain factors which prompt me to
recommend strongly that he not be hold liable for the cash shortage.
As the investigation states, the shortage occurred some-
time between tO and 45 lane. It was during this period that a
:,rash requirement was levied on the - detachment which
resulted in overnight movement of personnel and equipment and
the immediate disbursement of funds. Due to the urgency of the
situation, I can well appreciate that something could have been
overlooked or forgotten which resulted in the cash shortage. In
view of the fact that this is the first time that a cash shortage has
occurred in some 11. years of handling official funds, and in view
cof the dircumstances surrounding the shortage, I recommend
that not be hold liable for the loss of the cash and that
the $94.98 be written off as official expense.
