detachments are required on occasion to design and fabricate
electronic equipments essential to Project

in operational use has proved the feasibility of incorporating
the same circuitry in the "production" readout stations
which will eventually be used in the field. Another current
example of detachment R&D a 61ST "Squelch" circuit
25X1 A now being fabricated a for use with the airborne SSB
Transceiver. This circuit should produce a substantially
lower headset noise in the absence of a signal, permitting
the pilot to continuously monitor the SSB without the uncom-
fortably high noise levels reported during the recent Symposium
at Headquarters.
2. The problem of component procurement for this R&D
25X1A is especially serious at which is physically remote
from the usual supply sources k~[.e. For this reason, it is requested tha e attached list of
electronic components be procured and forwarded to Detachment
H for future utilization as required by the Communications
Staff, Project Headquarters.
