Thursday - 23 February 1978
1. LIAISON Received a call from Ramona,
in the office of Senator H. John Heinz (R., Pa.), who requested a copy
of the CIA publication "International Terrorism in 1976" and any other
unclassified studies we may have on terrorism. I told her I would check
to see what we could send to her.
2. EMPLOYMENT Received a call from
Charles Brimmer, in the office of Representative Kenneth Holland (D., S. Car.
who requested a professional employment package for a constituent. OLC
Registry will forward the material.
3. FOIA Received a call from Sylvia Spencer,25X1
in the office of Representative Morris K. Udall (D., Ariz.), who asked for
the name of the Information and Privacy Coordinator.
name was given to her.
4. LIAISON I spoke at length with Mark
Bisnow, Legislative Assistant to Senator H. John Heinz, III (R., Pa.),
and characterized for him the sources of the information contained in
our 17 February 1978 letter to the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban
Affairs Committee and gave him a feeling for our estimation of the
reliability of the sources.
5. LIAISON Frank Conahan, Associate
Director, International Division, GAO, called as focal point for GAO, and
stated that GAO still planned to do the three studies of sensitive intelligence
activities which had first surfaced during August 1977. He asked that we
expedite the clearances for three GAO staffers who would be doing the studies.
I told him that initially we had turned down the request for clearances but
would take another look at it to see where the matter stands.
