Dear Mr. Fountain:
Thank you for your letter of 4 December 1978 to Admiral
Turner on behalf of Mr. Bruce Strickland concerning the status
of his Privacy Act request.
I am advised that AL,1r. Strickland's request was received on the
9th of November and was acknowledged on the 16th. It was promptly
put into processing. Two of the four components to which it was sent;
have reported that they have no record concerning Mr. Strickland. J
The remaining offices, both of which are heavily backlogged, havq
not yet reported. Mr. Strickland will be informed, through our
Information and Privacy Staff, as soon as the search is completed.
I regret that we are unable to respond more promptly. however,
we have a backlog of almost 2, 800 similar requests. We cannot, in
fairness to Mr. Strickland's fellow citizens, assign special priority
to his case.
