In my personal investigation of the Patricia
Hearst case, a comment was made regarding CIA experi-
ments using prisoners at the California medical
facility at Vacaville.
Please consider this letter to be a request for
confirmation or denial of that fact. The reference
which I have to that possibility is Donald DeFreese,
now deceased, who was the leader known as CINQUE of
the Symbionese Liberation Army. The other person who
may have knowledge of or who may have referred to the
CIA is Clifford Jefferson, who had a long-term prison
sentence prior to the time that the kidnapping of
Miss Hearst took place.
In the event that your investigation produces
an affirmative response, I would appreciate a personal
conversation with you about the matter before anything
is done with the information.
