REFERENCE- IPS Referrals of 12 and 21 June 1978
1. We apologize for the delay in responding to the above
referrals from IPS for classification review and determination on the
subject requests.
2. Although the Office of Legislative Counsel has no objection
to release of these four documents in their entirety, to date we have
received no authorization from the Congressional oversight committee
involved in the briefings described in the subject memoranda.
.3. If there are no objections posed by other Agency components
as to declassification and releasability of these documents, may we
suggest that you advise the Lyndon B. Johnson Library Archivist that
CIA has 'no objections to declassification and release; however, the
documents involve sensitive matters directly involving one of our
oversight committees and cannot be released without the committee'.-;
authorization. To date such authorization has not been received.
