House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staff,
to meetings.with representatives of three Agency.components
which deal with academia in one degree or another. The
briefings were as follows:

were: the degree to which the academics involved

academics' colleagues. It emerged fairly clearly
that Mr. Johnson would prefer to see any relation-
ship between CIA and the academics be totally overt,
but he seemed to accept the premise that many
academics preferred it otherwise. In therocess
