SUBJECT: Briefing of Arms Control, Oceans and International
Environment Subcommittee, Senate Foreign Relations
Committee, 22 May 1978

25X1 ORPA, and briefed the
Arms Control, Oceans and International Environment Subcommittee
25X1 on the current [nuclear program. A technical sweep was
made and monitoring was conducted during the briefing which
included material at the Secret level. A transcript was
taken.

one estimate for the future. He went into detail on the

Subcommittee that we do not believe that has plans to

25X1 6. Senator Glenn, who chaired the meeting after Senator
Claiborne Pell had to leave, asked how quickly we would know if

that we would discover such an effort within weeks or months.

that we would know about a weapon building effort and that we
