Approved For Release 2004/12/02 : CIA-RDP81 M00980R000600330038-9 OIO 0ECo COPY. OLC 78-0357/14 22 May 1978 SUBJECT : Conversation with Peter Regis, House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and International Law Staff 1. Peter Regis, staff investigator on Chairman Joshua Eilberg's House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and International Law staff, called and asked that he and Skip Endres, who are involved in the Nazi war criminals investigation, meet with our people at Headquarters. I set 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 26 May for the meeting. Regis wants to discuss the CIA material which he has already reviewed and wants to discuss a request that the Agency brief theSubcommittee on its file holdings at an executive session hearing. 2. I hit Regis hard on Chairman Eilberg's press release from his Philadelphia office which distorted the conclusions in the GAO report. Regis acknowledged that the release was in error and he said resulted from a misunderstanding by Chairman Eilberg's press assistant. Regis said that the first release was withdrawn and Chairman Eilberg issued a second release which omitted the first paragraph in which CIA was mentioned. I made arrangements for the second release to be picked up first thing in the morning. STAT 3. I am advising STAT urge that you attend. , who will attend.
