SUBJECT: House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
Hearings on Intelligence Community Automatic
Data Processing Services
1. On 9 May 1978, the Evaluation Subcommittee of the House
Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence continued hearings
on Intelligence Community automatic data processing activity.
The hearing was at the codeword security level, Security was
provided by the Committee. A transcript was made of the
hearings. Witnesses were not sworn.
2. Committee members present through all or.part of the
hearing included:
Edward P. Boland, Chairman-of the full Committee
Charles Rose (D., N. Car.), Chairman of the Subcommittee
John M. Ashbrook (R., Ohio), Subcommittee member
3. Staff members present through all or part of the hearing
included: Richard Giza, Diane LaVoy, Mike O'Neil, Patrick Long,
and Annette Smiley.
4. The hearing was divided into two sessions, At 9:00 a.m,
General Harold Aaron, appeared as
STATthe principal witnesses for the General Defense Intelligence
Program. At 10:30 a.m. these three *gentlemen appeared as principal
witnesses for the Defense Intelligence Agency. Supporting
attendees are indicated on the attached witness lists
5. General Aaron, with assistance from others, provided a
Iong and detailed presentation of the automatic data processing
activities of the various aspects of the General Defense
Intelligence Program.
