He said that his colleagues by and large felt CIA was a very competent organization but that'it was overly secretive. 2. I epresentative Simon said that recently he had been given a copy of an unclassified CIA report and was impressed by its thoroughness and objectivity. He said that by aid large his colleagues on the Hill were unaware of unclassified CIA reports and suggested that we might consider sending a list of all unclassified publications to every Member of Congress. I told him that while we wanted to be sure that every Member of Congress was aware of all the services CIA could provide to them we did have problems with such a suggestion but that we would take a look at it to see what could be done. 3. I epresentative Simon asked what he as a non-oversight committee member could do for the Intelligence Community. Mr. Jack Blake, A/DDCI, mentioned legislation to protect classified information from unauthorized disclosure and relief from the FOIA. Mr. Simon was amazed at the amount of man-hours and work that the Agency contributes to the FOIA process. 4. We also passed to him the problems concerning Section 662 and the Case Act.
