Approved For Release 2004/10/28: CIA-RDP81 M00980R00080Q0 OLC 78-1163/1 GC 0GC Assistant Legislative Counsel SUBJBCr: . S. 1437, Omnibus Revision of the Federal Criminal Code We have received from the Office of Management and Budget a request for our views on S. 1437, as passed by the Senate; the deadline is Wednesday, 19 April 1978. I have-also spoken with Ronald Gainer, Department of Justice, and with Mike O'Neil, Chief Counsel, House Permanent Select Committee_ on Intelligence, and have arranged to meet with them in. Mr. O'Neil's office at 2:00 p.m. Friday, 7 April 1978. Since the House Judiciary Committee Criminal Justice Subcommittee is still in the initial stages of its hearings, and since we do have the opportunity to discuss our concerns with the legislation with Justice tu)d the House Intelligence Committee on 7 April, I think we probably should hold off preparing a response to 0.0 until after that meeting; please let me know if you feel the response to 0MB is more urgent and should be prepared in advance of that meeting. Please let me know if the 7 Apri1 r: eting fits your schedule and if both of you. will be attending.
