MEDiORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Status of Certain Views Letters at 0MB On 29 December 1977 I talked with Tracey Cole, Phoebe Pelk, and Bob Caristrom, all of QMiB, concerning the status of certain views letters. Their responses are given below. H.R. 747, H.R. 4173, H.R. 6051 and H.R. 6195 (Reform the Intelligence Community): Ms. Cole said she thought she had cleared them and added she would do so in the near future. H.R. 3829 (Financial Disclosure): Ms. Felk indicated that she is holding this letter pending resolution of the tangle of ethics bills. Q N11 is reassessing its position, and she is not sure of the end result. H. R. 9701 (Amend Budget and Accounting Act) : Ms. Felk said that Olin'. is doing nothing on this. H.R. 10 (Hatch Act Revisions): Ms. Felk did not know that the White House had sent a note to the Agency. She said she will check on the stal:tli of the letter and that OMB is reassessing its position. S. !1721 (Amend Exemption to 5 U.S.C. 553) : Mr. Carlstrom said tha. tentatively they will not wait for DOD's response before clearing letter.,;- He does, however, have to wait until U-iB's national security people O.K. the, letter. The Chief Counsel of the Subcommittee is aware of the delay an d.~does not object.
