The CongT-css- man recently visited Panama in connection with his responsi.b-iti(-~s on the House Armed Services Committee and was interested in our evaluation of the internal and external threat to Panama. This was up briefing to a short telephone conversat_cin between and the Congressman last Friday afternoon. 7. LIAISON Met with David Kc:ncy and George W. Ashworth, staffers on the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and informed them that a facility in the Soviet Union, which they were interested in, was no longer considered a possible BW site. Later I called Mr. Ashworth to let him know that wa-7-indeed going to e a resident scholar at the gency _or some time. I said I saw no reason, however, why he could not submit an essay to the Committee on Soviet/U.S. relationships. Arrangements were made for to call Mr. Ashworth directly to make any final arrangements. 8. Bill Miller, Staff Director, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, to E.ii address before the course "Perspectives for New Supergrados" at the Chamber of Commerce building.
