OMIT, 40 Check on the status o our views letters on H. R. 3564 and S. 1721,
companion bills to amend the rule making provision of the APA. Mr. Car! :t corn
said he has the views letters on his desk and will begin to process then
through the OMB apparatus today. He said the process would take two
weeks. Mr. Carlstrom said there should be. no problem clearing; them for
transmittal to the appropriate house and Senate Committees.

of H..R. 959, the "Administrative Rule Making Reform Act of 1977. 11 Bear. i_? s
are being held on the bill today in the Subcommittee. No further actions is
scheduled at this time apart from today's hearings.

Subcommittee on Rules and Organization of the House to check on the Statu,
of 11. R. 1.756 and H. It. 10421, Iwo "Sunset" bills. The Subcommittee held ol;e
day of hearings on 23 June and is planning further hearings in the near futurrg;
however, nothing as yet scheduled.

Murphy, Senate Office of Classified National Security Information, who
asked if we could famish him sometime today with a stamp bearing, the
word "Sensitive, " Ile explained that lie was doing a Top Secret SccnsitiL,'e
report and needed the stamp in order to finish it. I told him I would se-(t
what I could do. He later called back and said he was going to borrow
a "Sensitive" stamp from the House Permanent Select Committee on
Itrtelli. ,once and didn't need to bother us.
