I am forwarding charts of DDSEiT's relationship with
academia covering the years 1970 to present. You will
note that they are broken into categories: "paid,"
"unpaid," "research/consultant" and "lecturer." I should
add that the figures in the enclosed charts represent the
best available information. By this I mean that the
information is partially based on corporate memory since
there are few back up files.
Further, we have restricted our definition of "contact"
to those individuals who were seen on official business
three or more times in any given calendar year. As a result,
we have excluded information on contacts made during personnel
recruitment trips in conjunction with the Office of Personnel;
excluded are.contacts made by DDSET personnel during approved
training courses; excluded are contacts made during attendance
at seminars, conferences and professional society meetings;
and also excluded are those contacts made by DDS&T personnel
who give lectures and teach at local colleges and universities.
I think that the charts will be sufficient to indicate
trends and give you a sense of the breadth of official DDS&T
contact with the academic community. I hope you will find
them useful.
