This letter is a formal request for such briefings. We believe that an understanding of South Korea's concern over North Korean penetration and subversion will be helpful to the Subcommittee and its investigative staff in comprehending the motivations behind some of the South Korean activities which the Subcommittee has been directed to inves- tigate. We are requesting that such briefings be held in closed sessions, either formal or informal, and that they cover North Korean subversive activities both in the US and abroad, with special emphasis on the activities in Korea, the US and'in Japan. To coordinate the arrangements for these briefings, I am requesting that you contact either Bob Boettcher or Michael Hershman at 225-7722. I greatly appreciate your cooperation in this regard. With best wishes, I am Sincerely yours, Donald M. Fraser Chairman Subcommittee on International Organizations cc: M pnosrea1fFd hCegei 2004 -1On CHAtRfWJ Q0980R90b1Q001O t2-6
