Mr.. Thomas K. Latimer, Staff Director
House Select Committee on Intelligence
Room 11-405, Capitol
Washington, D. C. 20515
Dear Mr. Latimer:
[::] Enclosed are summaries of the cases I briefed you
on 11 July 1978. Copies are also being furnished to the
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
II You may recall that the reason for raising this
matter with you is a possibility that a recently retired
CIA employee may, notwithstanding the material's dated nature ,
expose this material either inadvertently or by design to the
media. According to CIA records the Pennington and Wiley
materials were available to both the Rockefeller Commission
and the Church Committee. The Jay Kennedy material did not
surface until after the completion of the Rockefeller Com-
mission, Church Committee, and Pike Committee investigations
and thus were not made available for external review. For
your additional information, a portion of the Kennedy files
which relates to Dr. Martin Luther King has been reviewed by
representatives of the Department of Justice and has been set
aside awaiting review by the I-louse Select Committee on
Assassinations.
The files pertaining to these cases are available
for review by representatives of your Committee upon request.
Sincerely,
1. no
