1. I BRIEFING Received a call from
Jane McMullen, Senate Appropriations Committee staff, who said
Chairman John Stennis (D., Miss.) wanted to know what dates the
Director might be available to give the Defense Subcommittee a
worldwide intelligence wrapup briefing. After checking with
0/I)CI, I explained to Ms. McMullen that the
Director's schedule this week was very full, that he would be
out of the city next week, but I gave her the following dates
for the wool after next: 15 August at 2:00 p.m.; 16 August at
2:00 p.m.; 18 August at 10:30 a.m. I told Ms. McMullen that if
the Chairman wanted the briefing next week, I would check with
Mr. Carlucci. She said she would check with the Chairman and
let me know.
3. LIAISON Received a. call from
Steve Hotman, Congressional esearch Service, Library of Congress.
Mr. lIofman requested two maps of Zaire and one map of Africa which
would show the small towns involved in the recent conflicts. I
told Mr. Hofnan I would check and be back in touch. I asked
NFAC/CSS, to handle this request.
4. (Unclassified - JMD) LIAISON Received a call from Kathy
Cooper, in the office of Representative Les Aspin (D., Wis.). We
have to cancel Mr. Hitz' appointment with Mr. Aspin on 3 August.
She will check on 4 August and be back in touch with me.
5. (Unclassified - JAM) LIAISON At Mr. Carpentier's request,
I called Ken Gei se.n's, DTA, secretary to set up a meeting for
Messrs. Carpenti.er, Kelso, of OIL; and Warren. Priestly, OS; to
meet with Mr. Goisen at 10 :1 5 a. in. Thursday, 3 August, to discuss
compartmented clearances to the Legislative Branch.
