O'Neill (D., Mass.), Majority Louder and/or the Whip would be interested in a periodic substantive intelligence briefing, in addition to the Minority Loader of the House and the leadership in the Senate. llymel was not able to locate my 9 June lcttci setting forth the background of our proposal as well as other matters, so we sent him another copy and he prom:i sod to look into the matter. /0. (Unci si.fied - MG) LIAISON Received a call. from Kurt Cuthi.e, Congressional Research Serv:i ce, Library of Congress, who asked if the Agency had any information on the social security system in Uruguay and how it affects the economy. After checking with NFAC/CSS, I called Duthie back and told him we had no information on thi s subject. /1.1. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Received a call. .from Martha Braddock, Senate Banking Committee staff, who said she understood a Senator was releasing a study tomorrow on Soviet civil defense. She asked if 1 could forward a copy of this study to her. I told her that the study was to be released soon and that as soon as it was, I would send a copy to her. She also asked if it was an interagency study. After chocking with NFAC/CSS, I called Ms. Braddock back and told her it was an interagency study. 12. (Unclassified - MMP) LIAISON Called Herb Romerstein, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staff, to inquire when the unclassified report on KGB utilization of the media produced by CIA and which was included in the 20 May 1978 Subcommittee on Oversight hearing on "CIA and the Press" would be published. Mr. Romerstoin indicated that. Representative John M. Ashbrook. (R., Ohio) had ordered 10,000 copies of the report and that the report would probably be printed within another ten days. He assured me that he would provide me with a few copies and a iva.nce notice of the publication date. 13. (Unclassified - SF) EMPLOYMENT REQUEST Received a call from Dorothy Brown, in the office of Senator Jennings Randloph (D., W. Va.). The Senator has a constituent who is being re-ass:i.gned to California. The constituent r gVa GS I and. is a warden at a Federal reformatory in West Virginia.. Ms. brown wanted to know :if we would possibly have a job for the consti_tucnI because he doesn't want to move to California.
