The briefing took place in S-116 of the Capitol. 39. 1 1 LIAISON Roy Werner, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, ca ~iequests: (a) A briefing on ietnam. After checking with 1N'FAGI arranged tor V 1400 hours on Wednesday, 14 June, at 430 Dirksen Senate Office Building. (b) Information on whether has links to communists or not. I have passed is request on tol 40. LIAISON Loch Johnson, Ilouse Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staff, called with requests for briefings on the following items: (a) Activities of the Publications Review Board - how it functions. (b) Briefing on the Agency's Secrecy Agreement. (c) The alleged attempt on Agostino Neto's (of Angola) life, roughly one year a o. I arranged to have this point covered during the 12 June briefing by Chief, Africa Division. (d) Briefing on CIA relationships with U. S. academia. (e) CIA relationships wring the past ten years. All the foregoing has been passe on :o 41. LIAISON Received a call from Robert Foust, in the office of Senator Claiborne Pell (D., R. I. ). Mr. Foust wanted a copy of a recently released report which discusses the increasing Soviet natural gas production. After checking with NFAC/CSS, I told Mr. Foust that it was in draft and we would make sure he received a copy when the report was completed. 42. LIAISON Called Susan Pitts, in the office of Senator Alan Cranston (D., Calif.), and she gave me the list of Senators who will be attending the 13 June luncheon at which the Director will attend. The list includes: Senators Birch Bayh (D., Ind.); Dale Bumpers (D., Ark.); John Chafee (R., R.I.); Frank Church (D., Idaho); Dick Clark (D., Iowa); John Culver (D., Iowa); John Glenn (D., Ohio); Gary Hart (D., Colo.); Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.); Thomas McIntyre (D., N.H.); Edmund Muskie (D., Maine); Charles Percy (R., Ill. ); Robert Stafford (R., Vt.), and Senator Cranston.
