My real point is not to.take issue with your evaluation of CIA being soft with respect to SALT (of course, I do take exception to that but you are entitled to your own opinion), but to let you know that I think you have been taken in by a bad source of information. I had a check done of six different assertions, as to what the. CIA had said, that were contained in your article. In no instance had we said this publicly and in only one instance was the actual situation correctly described. All the others were totally false. I think you are on to someone whose information is either hampered by a bad memory or an inclination to seize on part of the fact and then distort it to his advantage. All the best. NIWI' Admiral E.
