Anti-Terrorist Assistance. to the Italians
The President has approved in principle the provision of
anti-terrorist assistance to the GOI. This assistance would
include:
VIP Protection
improvements in Physical Security
Incident Management
Psychological Impact of Hostage Situations Training
Executive Driving Techniques
Document Authentication
Detection of. Terrorist Devices
Airport Security Survey
The President has determined that the provision of the assistance
cited above is contingent on a specific request from Prime
Minister Andreotti. Therefore, Ambassador Gardner should dis-
cuss this assistance in detail with General Crassini, as sug-
gested by Prime Minister Andreotti in their meeting of May 26.
The GOI should then make a formal request to the USG, with the
Prime Minister's concurrence, for the agreed upon assistance.
Once this is done, the provision of assistance should commence
NSC review completed.
