As I mentioned during our telephone conversation yesterday,
we have come across a Drug Enforcement Agency document in our
files which appears to be relevant to questions asked by Senate
Foreign Relations Committee Legal Counsel Mike Glennon in
connection with the Subcommittee on International Operations'
investigation of foreign intelligence activities in the U.S.
Glennon is asking whether there is any information on illegal
activities concerning drugs or prostitution by officers or
employees of the Iranian government in the U.S. The document
in question is DEA 22068 of August 1.978. Please consider this
to be a formal referral of this matter to you in accordance
with the understanding on the Third Agency Rule reached
earlier this year at the Senate-House conference on the State
Department Authorization bill. Please let me know what you
decide to do about the document.
