(Unclassified - RJW) LEGISLATION Called Bob Carlstrom, OMB, to check on the status of our views +etters on H. R. 3564 and S. 1721, companion bills to amend the rule making provision of the APA. Mr. Carlstrom said he has the views letters on his desk and will begin to process them through the OMB apparatus today. He said the process would take two weeks. Mr. Carlstrom said there should be no problem clearing them for transmittal to the appropriate House ar.d Senate Committees. 15. (Unclasified - RJW) LEGISLATION Called the House Rules Subcommittee on Rules and Organization of the House to check on the status of H. R. 959, the "Administrative Rule Making Reform Act of 1977. " Hearings are being held on the bill today in the Sufic ommittee. No further action is scheduled at this time apart from today's Bearings. 16. (Unclassified - RJW) LEG 6LATION Called the House Rules Subcommittee on Rules and Organization of the I-louse to check on the status of H. R. 1756 and H. R. 10421, two "Sunset" bills. The Subcommittee held one day of hearings on 23 June and is planning further hearings in the near future; however, nothing as yet scheduled. 17. (Unclassified - NDL) LIAISON Received a call from George Murphy, Senate Office of Classified National Security Information, who asked if we could furnish him sometime today with a stamp bearing the word "Sensitive. " He explained that he, was doing a Top Secret Sensitive report and needed the stamp in order to finish it. I told him f would see what I could do. He later called back and said he was going to borrow a "Sensitive" stampfrorn the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and didn't need to bother us. 18. (Unclassified - NDL) LI.AI`-ON Received a call from Jim Thessin, Senate Foreign Relations Co.nin,ttee staff, who asked if I would check to see if the 31 May issue of the "Ini ernational Energy Biweekly Statistical Review" had been sent to hiin. He was concerned that he had not received it yet. After checking with CSS/NFAC, I called Mr. Thessin back and told him the publication had been forwarded on 1 June.
