SUBJECT: Your Lunch with Bill Colby
1. In connection with your lunch;with Bill Colby on Thursday,
thought you might want to have on hand some of the material we have
been using with the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to
convince them of the errors of their way and to redraft their STAT
report. We have one more. section to send down to the Committee
which we hope to get there by mid-week. So far, we have gotten
positive signs indicating that we had made a telling case in certain
areas. Attached is that portion of our comments which most clearly
.relate to Bill, i.e., the misleading of Congress charge.
2. I also think the Committee experience with us on the
report has been good for them. When I was invited down STAT
for a sneak preview of their draft report, which is STAT
now undergoing major redrafting, one of the principal drafters said
they had done this because they did not wa find themselves in
the same position on this r ad report. STAT
